Strategic Relationships And Expertise Puts Hickey Lawyers In The Drivers Seat

Recently,Hickey Lawyers has had the exciting opportunity to facilitate significant changes with one of Australia’s largest V8 Supercar Teams.

Ross and Jimmy Stone who together sit behind the wheel of Stone Brothers Racing, have been figureheads of the V8 Supercar race scene since 1998. They have now decided to move in a new direction and have formed an alliance with Erebus Motorsport.

Stone Brothers Racing enlisted the services of Hickey Lawyers to negotiate and oversee one of the most complex transactions in Australian motorsport. Through engaging with all relevant stakeholders, Hickey Lawyers was instrumental in the sale of one of the racing entitlement contracts and leasing of another with a delayed
settlement.

This transaction could not have been possible without the close relationships and experience Hickey Lawyers has built with V8 Supercars teams, such as Paul Wheel Racing, Stone Brothers Racing, Champ Car Team Australia, former F 1 World Champion Alan Jones and former Moto GP multiple World Champion Mick Doohan.

This was certainly an exhilarating transaction to be involved in and in years to come we will look back with pride in the knowledge that Hickey Lawyers was a key player during a period of unprecedented change in V8 Supercars competition in Australia. The sport is in an exciting growth phase with the introduction of Mercedes Benz and Nissan cars, and puts Hickey Lawyers at the forefront of a truly electrifying competition. Ross will continue to assist Erebus Motorsport with the transition to the very competitive V8 Supercars category.

Ross and Jimmy are excited by the sale of their race team and believe the time is right. Erebus Motorsport has provided Ross and Jimmy with the opportunity to continue racing for many more years and continue to grow and develop a highly respected international sporting brand. This year sees Jimmy take a step back and transition into retirement, however he will continue to work closely with his son, Matt Stone in his development series team. We look forward to our continued association with Stone Brothers Racing as we assist with this
transition from Stone Brothers Racing to Erebus Motorsport.
